M12 5-pin female right-angle connector for field wiring onto a cable – socket (female connector), A-coded, with screw terminals. The wires are screwed into the terminals, no soldering needed, and the connector takes cables with a diameter of 4–6 mm. The cable exits the connector at 90°.
Application
The A-coded M12 5-pin socket mates with an A-coded M12 4- or 5-pin plug – including sensors, but also other automation devices with this type of connector.
Suitable for M12 sensors with a 4- or 5-pin plug and a PNP or NPN output – with one output or with two outputs, NO and NC (NO output on pin 4, NC on pin 2). The socket screws onto the sensor's plug.
With a sensor that has a 4-pin plug, including Nexotec M12 sensors, nothing is connected to the fifth pin of the connector, and it does not interfere with connecting the sensor.
The connector is made to IEC 61076-2-101 (A-coded), so it also fits other brands' sensors and devices with an A-coded M12 plug.

View of the contact side. The pin assignment and wire colours comply with IEC 60947-5-2, the standard used for connecting proximity sensors of different brands – Nexotec sensors and cables follow it too. In other devices, the pin functions are defined in their documentation.
Pin 5: Nexotec sensors have no fifth pin. 5-pin connectors are used, among other things, with shielded cables and cables with an earth conductor – in 5-core cables, pin 5 usually has a green-yellow wire (GN/YE). The function of pin 5 is defined by the device to which the cable is connected.
Installation and operating conditions
Cable: diameter 4–6 mm, conductors up to 1.5 mm². Connection: screw terminals. The wires are clamped with slotted screws (flat-blade screwdriver). Coupling nut tightening torque: 0.6 Nm. The connector achieves IP67 when plugged in and with the coupling nut tightened. Operating temperature: −40…+85 °C.

Is it suitable for an NPN sensor?
Yes. The pin assignment is the same for PNP and NPN sensors.

No, it is an unshielded connector.
Does the 5-pin socket fit a sensor with a 4-pin plug?
Yes. Nothing is connected to the fifth pin of the connector, and it does not interfere with connecting the sensor.
Why is the 5-pin connector rated at 60 V and the 4-pin version at 250 V?
IEC 61076-2-101 specifies this voltage for A-coded M12 connectors with five contacts; the 3- and 4-pin versions are rated at 250 V AC/DC.
How many times can the connector be mated?
The connector withstands at least 100 mating cycles.
