M12 sensor cable, 3 m long, with a PUR jacket and a factory-moulded 4-pin straight female connector (socket, A-coded). The other end has open wires (flying leads) that connect directly to a terminal strip or input module – no soldering and no connector assembly. The socket screws onto the M12 plug of the sensor, and the cable leaves the connector along its axis.
Suitable sensors
For M12 sensors with one PNP output (NO or NC). The yellow LED is connected between the sensor output and pin 3 (0 V), so it lights up with a PNP output – for NPN sensors, choose the version without LEDs. This cable is not suitable for sensors with two outputs (NO and NC): pins 2 and 4 are bridged inside the connector and routed to a single black wire.
Pin assignment and wire colours – M12 4-pin
| Pin | Wire colour | Function in Nexotec sensors |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | brown (BN) | supply + (L+) |
| 2 and 4 | black (BK) | output (pins bridged in the connector) |
| 3 | blue (BU) | supply 0 V (L−) |

The connector is made to IEC 61076-2-101 (A-coded), so it also fits other brands' sensors with an A-coded M12 plug.
LEDs in the connector
The connector has two LEDs: the green one is connected between pins 1 and 3, so it lights up when the sensor is powered; the yellow one is connected between the output and pin 3, so it lights up when the PNP output is switched on.
Installation and operating conditions
Cable jacket: PUR, black. The cable is not designed for drag chains. In moving applications the minimum bending radius is 10 × cable diameter, i.e. approx. 44 mm. Operating temperature: −40 to +80 °C in fixed installation, −25 to +80 °C when moving.

Frequently asked questions
What are the wire colours of the M12 4-pin cable?
Pin 1 – brown, pins 2 and 4 – black, pin 3 – blue.
Is the cable suitable for drag chains?
No. This cable is not designed for drag chains.
Is the cable shielded?
No, it is an unshielded cable.
Can it be used with an NPN sensor?
No – the yellow status LED lights up only with a PNP output. For an NPN sensor, choose a cable without LEDs.
Does it fit sensors of other brands?
Yes – it fits sensors with an A-coded M12 plug, as the connector is made to IEC 61076-2-101.
How does it differ from the version without LEDs?
This version has LEDs in the connector showing power and the PNP output state. The version without LEDs has 4 wires, with pins 2 and 4 on separate wires, so it is also suitable for sensors with NO and NC outputs and for NPN sensors.
How many times can the connector be unplugged?
The connector withstands at least 100 mating cycles.
What other lengths and versions are available?
Besides this version, we offer M12 4-pin cables with a socket and LEDs in the following variants: straight PVC 3 m; angled PUR 3 m; angled PVC 3 m.
Is the connector sealed without tightening the nut?
No. IP67 applies only when the connector is mated and the coupling nut is tightened.
