The specialised NMF08103-FE inductive sensor has been designed for precise detection of steel components, without false triggering on nearby aluminium parts.
The optimal M8 size allows integration into many automation systems. The optimized Ø8 x 60 mm size combines a compact design with easy installation and high operational durability.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M8, a good balance between size and metal detection range
- Length: 60 mm, elongated housing with increased mechanical rigidity and high durability
- Detection range: 1 mm, non-contact detection of metal objects with high repeatability
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), detection focused on the actual steel part, not on individual aluminium filings, chips or dust remaining in the surroundings
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the actual detection range allows a model to be selected based on the specific distance to the steel part, regardless of the presence of aluminium in the surroundings
- Housing: Threaded, a standard solution used in industrial automation and control systems
- Housing material: Stainless steel, high resistance to corrosion and chemical exposure
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, capable of operating in coolants, oils, and industrial emulsions
- Mounting: Flush mounting, stable operating characteristics around metal surroundings
- Switching function: NO, used in typical machine control applications
- Plug type: M8, M8 or M12 connectors provide a standardized, stable electrical connection
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, stable operation in DC-powered installations
Applications
- Quality control in serial production – The FE proximity sensor supports the selective checking of the presence of ferromagnetic components in mixed technological assemblies.
- Cutting and preparation of steel profiles – The inductive sensor for detecting steel performs well on cutting and preparation lines for steel profiles ahead of further processing.
- Robotic cells – The FE series detection device is used in robotic cells handling steel parts in continuous cycle operation.
- Checking before stamping of steel sheets – The FE proximity sensor is used to check the presence of a part before the stamping cycle of steel sheets and components.
- Reinforcement bars and construction rods – The FE steel detector performs well on production lines for reinforcement bars and reinforced concrete structural components.
Benefits/Features
- K=1 for steel – the K=1 correction factor is the natural reference value for steel, meaning the rated operating distance Sn corresponds to the full, actual detection range.
- Part-presence sensor – can check the presence of a steel component at a specific location without reacting to incidental aluminium parts.
- Mechanical resistance – the full-metal design performs well in applications where steel detection takes place in a demanding industrial environment.
- For applications with aluminium chips in the surroundings – performs well wherever aluminium chips generated during machining should not be treated as the detected element.
- Steel component position sensor – can check the position of a part in a machine, while aluminium components in the surroundings are not the actual detection target.
When to choose this model
- For detecting steel – choose this model when you need an inductive sensor designed for the contactless detection of steel parts.
- For automatic metal presence checking – the metal presence detector can be used to confirm the presence of the actual steel part in the process.
- When resistance matters during steel machining – the full-metal sensing element can be an appropriate solution for demanding production stations.
- When you need contactless steel checking – the contactless sensor allows checking the presence and position of a part without mechanical contact with its surface.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
