The advanced NMF08114-NF inductive sensor from the NF series supports the automation of processes where the material to be detected is aluminium, not steel.
M8 sensors have been designed for applications requiring space saving. The Ø8 x 60 mm format allows mounting where larger sensors won't fit, while maintaining high operational reliability.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M8, commonly used in industrial automation and process control systems
- Length: 60 mm, better resistance to shocks, vibration, and mechanical stress
- Detection range: 2 mm, wear resistance thanks to the non-contact metal detection method
- Detected materials: Aluminium and other non-ferrous metals (steel ignored), detection focused on the actual aluminium part, not on individual filings or chips generated during machining
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for aluminium (full rated sensing range), the actual sensing range allows the model to be selected based on the actual distance to the aluminium workpiece
- Housing: Threaded, fastening with lock nuts ensures a stable installation
- Housing material: Stainless steel, suited for operation in moisture, dirt, and harsh industrial conditions
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, dimensional stability under dynamic load conditions
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, high detection sensitivity for demanding industrial applications
- Switching function: NC, output disconnects upon detecting a metal object
- Plug type: M8, connector sensors allow quick, tool-free connection to industrial installations
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, compatible with PLC systems and industrial automation
Applications
- Automotive assembly lines – The NF aluminium detector enables position control of aluminium parts on automotive assembly lines.
- CNC machines – The NF inductive sensor is used in CNC machines to check the position of aluminium parts and tools.
- Aluminium cable production – The inductive proximity sensor supports checking the presence of aluminium conductor or wire during cable production.
- Machining stations with filings – The metal presence detector supports automatic inspection of aluminium parts at machining stations, where individual filings should not affect the detection result.
- Inspection after cutting/machining – Applications of the NF proximity sensor include inspecting parts after machining, even in environments containing fine aluminium fragments.
Benefits/Features
- Full rated range for aluminium – the range specified in the documentation reflects the actual detection capability, which makes it easier to design applications involving aluminium parts.
- Part position sensor – enables position checking of an aluminium part within a machine, focusing detection on the actual workpiece.
- Material specialization – the parameters were selected for applications involving aluminium and non-ferrous metals, not for detecting fine metallic contaminants.
- Full range + aluminium – K = 1 allows the rated range to be applied directly to the detection of the aluminium part.
- Aluminium + non-ferrous metals + K = 1 – the combination of material specialization and full rated range is an important advantage when designing applications.
When to choose this model
- For inspecting parts before resistance welding – the non-contact sensor enables presence checking of a part without mechanical contact with its surface.
- When you need K = 1 – choose a model with K = 1 if it is important to make use of the rated sensing range for aluminium.
- When you need to distinguish the workpiece from fine residue – the part-presence sensor can be a beneficial solution in aluminium machining processes where filings or chips are present.
- For demanding industrial applications – the full-metal inductive sensor will be a suitable choice when, besides aluminium detection, construction durability is important.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
