The specialized NMF08112-NF inductive sensor was developed for precise detection of aluminium components, without reacting to nearby steel parts.
M8 sensors are suitable for places where standard sizes are too large. Ø8 x 60 mm sensors take up little space, allowing compact automation layouts to be designed without sacrificing reliability.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M8, broad compatibility with mounting brackets eases integration with machines
- Length: 60 mm, used in large industrial installations requiring high reliability
- Detection range: 2 mm, wear resistance thanks to the non-contact metal detection method
- Detected materials: Aluminium and other non-ferrous metals (steel ignored), detection focused on the actual aluminium part, not on individual filings or chips generated during machining
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for aluminium (full rated sensing range), the correction factor K = 1 means that the rated range Sn applies directly to aluminium, without the typical reduction applied to non-ferrous metals
- Housing: Threaded, a standard solution used in industrial automation and control systems
- Housing material: Stainless steel, increased mechanical strength of the housing ensures a long service life
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, resistance to corrosion in humid and chemical environments
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, maximum detection range for metal objects
- Switching function: NC, used in safety functions and operational monitoring
- Plug type: M8, connector sensors allow quick, tool-free connection to industrial installations
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, widely used power supply in control systems
Applications
- Robotic assembly stations – Use at robotic assembly stations working with aluminium ensures precise detection of the actual workpiece, disregarding individual filings in the surroundings.
- Aluminium packaging – The NF part-presence sensor performs well on packaging lines for aluminium packaging such as cans or foil.
- Stamping and blanking presses – The aluminium detector is used in presses for stamping and blanking aluminium parts.
- Inspection before resistance welding on the production line – Using the part-presence sensor before the resistance-welding process makes it possible to verify that the aluminium component is in the correct position.
- Compact detection setups – The compact design of the NF sensor makes it easier to design aluminium detection stations in locations with limited installation space.
Benefits/Features
- Full-metal construction – the monolithic design, machined from a single piece of metal, provides high mechanical resistance and allows the solution to be used in demanding applications involving the detection of aluminium and non-ferrous metals, where the presence of filings and chips should not affect the inspection of the actual workpiece.
- No reaction to individual aluminium filings – the solution is designed to detect the actual part, so individual aluminium particles are not treated as the intended detection target.
- Construction for demanding applications – the full-metal design allows the solution to be used in machines where mechanical resistance and reliable detection of the actual part are important.
- For inspecting parts after machining – can be used to detect the actual aluminium workpiece even in environments where machining residue is present.
- Aluminium part position sensor – can check the position of a part within a machine, while individual chips and filings are not the actual detection target.
When to choose this model
- For pressing aluminium parts – the non-contact detection sensor can confirm the presence of the actual part before starting the next stage of the process.
- When you need K = 1 – choose a model with K = 1 if it is important to make use of the rated sensing range for aluminium.
- For aluminium cutting and preparation stations – the part-position sensor makes it possible to check the correct alignment of the part before the process begins.
- When you need a single solution for various aluminium processes – the model can be used for cutting, stamping, welding, resistance welding, assembly and transport of aluminium parts.
Connection
The sensor has an NPN output, so connect it with an M8 3-pin connection cable without LEDs. Cables with LEDs (NXOC08261…, NXOC08121…) have a yellow status LED wired for a PNP output and are not suitable for NPN sensors.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
