The NWI08114 inductive sensor for welding was developed for applications requiring resistance to abrasion, impact, and contamination, along with continuous operation in a harsh industrial environment.
Thanks to its small M8 diameter, the sensor can be mounted in hard-to-reach locations around the welding station, Ø8 x 60 mm are dimensions that allow quick sensor replacement without dismantling the entire welding setup.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M8, a convenient size for stations with limited mounting space
- Length: 60 mm, a longer sensor body that allows mounting further away from the hottest zone of the weld
- Detection range: 2 mm, stable metal-detection characteristics even close to a resistance-welding machine's electromagnetic field
- Housing: Threaded, the housing thread allows fine adjustment of the detection distance during installation on the line
- Housing material: Brass with PTFE coating, a PTFE layer on the brass housing reduces weld spatter sticking to the sensor's surface
- Sensor face material: PTFE, a PTFE sensing face prevents metal spatter from welding and resistance welding from sticking
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, the non-flush version makes use of the full detection range, useful with larger welded parts
- Switching function: normally closed (NC), a normally-closed function useful in the safety circuits of welding stations
- Output type: PNP, the PNP output type simplifies integration with the safety modules of resistance-welding robots
- Connection: with a M8 plug connector, a plug connector allows quick sensor replacement without dismantling the entire welding installation
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, a standard voltage range compatible with the power supply of most welding-line control cabinets
- Electromagnetic interference (EMC) resistance: yes, EMC resistance allows mounting close to a resistance-welding machine's coils and current-carrying cables without signal loss
- Catalog number: W1CN-M0802P-CPU3
Applications
- It is used in automated welding systems and automated resistance welding systems operating continuously.
- It performs well in robotic welding systems and robotic welding lines, where robots operate without constant operator supervision.
- It supports the operation of smart welding lines and smart welding stations integrated with higher-level control systems.
- It is used within the Industry 4.0 concept in welding and resistance welding, where sensor data feeds into production monitoring systems.
- It supports the robotization of welding processes and the robotization of resistance-welding processes, increasing line repeatability and throughput.
Benefits/Features
- Its proven EMC resistance is valued by integrators building EMC-resistant industrial sensors for welding and resistance-welding applications.
- Thanks to its high resistance, it performs well in environments with high levels of electromagnetic interference, such as those generated by welding machines.
- It can be used as a welding machine sensor resistant to interference and a resistance welding machine sensor resistant to electromagnetic interference.
- It maintains signal stability as a welding sensor resistant to electromagnetic interference, reducing the number of false detections.
- Stable operation of the inductive sensor in the welding environment and resistance to electromagnetic interference during welding are key features of this model.
When to choose this model
- When a sensor is required for a welding machine that must withstand the influence of the process environment.
- When the sensor will operate under the harsh conditions of a welding process.
- When component detection is needed on an automated welding or resistance-welding line.
- When you need a reliable solution for welding or resistance-welding automation that provides non-contact detection of metal parts.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
