The NWI30011 inductive sensor for welding applications provides resistance to electromagnetic fields, metal spatter, oils, coolants, and other factors present in the production environment.
The M30 sensor performs well in heavy-duty welding applications, where long range and rugged construction matter most, Ø30 x 55 mm is a format that provides secure mechanical mounting throughout the continuous-duty cycle of a resistance-welding line.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M30, a rugged construction built for the most demanding resistance-welding stations
- Length: 55 mm, a longer sensor body that allows mounting further away from the hottest zone of the weld
- Detection range: 15 mm, repeatable detection of metal parts regardless of the interference generated during welding
- Housing: Threaded, a threaded housing allows precise adjustment of the sensor's position relative to the weld point
- Housing material: Brass with PTFE coating, a PTFE layer on the brass housing reduces weld spatter sticking to the sensor's surface
- Sensor face material: PTFE, the PTFE coating on the sensing face makes cleaning the station easier without risking damage to the sensor
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, non-flush mounting provides a longer detection range when adequate mounting space is available
- Switching function: normally open (NO), the NO function simplifies integration with most existing resistance-welding machine control systems
- Output type: NPN, the NPN output type works well with the typical PLC controller inputs on resistance-welding lines
- Connection: with a 2 m cable, a cable resistant to the vibration and frequent movement typical of welding robots
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, a standard voltage range compatible with the power supply of most welding-line control cabinets
- Electromagnetic interference (EMC) resistance: yes, EMC resistance allows mounting close to a resistance-welding machine's coils and current-carrying cables without signal loss
- Catalog number: W1CN-M3015N-O3U2
Applications
- It is an excellent fit for welding stations and automated welding stations, where repeatable, downtime-free operation is required.
- It is used in welding machines and as an inductive sensor for welding machines, monitoring the position and presence of parts.
- It is used in welding robots as an inductive sensor for welding robots, ensuring reliable detection throughout the work cycle.
- It performs well in robotic welding stations and automated welding lines, where every stoppage carries a real cost.
- Deployed on welding lines, it supports welding automation and the robotization of welding in series production.
Benefits/Features
- It performs well in harsh welding conditions, including elevated temperatures and heavy dust in the work zone.
- As an inductive sensor for harsh industrial conditions, it maintains repeatable detection even under intensive use.
- Resistance to harsh operating conditions allows mounting close to the weld point without compromising reliability.
- A construction resistant to harsh industrial conditions ensures stable operation across continuous, multi-shift cycles.
- The sensor is heat-resistant, withstanding the high temperatures generated during welding and resistance welding while maintaining its operating parameters across a -25°C to +70°C range.
When to choose this model
- When you need an inductive sensor for a welding cell where weld spatter is present.
- If you need a sensor for operation in a demanding resistance-welding environment.
- When the sensor must work together with a welding station's automation system.
- If the sensor is to be used in a robotic welding cell exposed to spatter.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
