The NMF18113-NF inductive sensor, in a full-metal design, combines high mechanical resistance with selective detection of aluminium and other non-ferrous metals.
The M18 product has been designed for automation systems with high operational requirements. Thanks to their size, M18 sensors are easy to install, adjust, and service in machines and automation equipment.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M18, large diameter providing a longer detection range in demanding industrial applications
- Length: 79 mm, better resistance to shocks, vibration, and mechanical stress
- Detection range: 8 mm, detection range depending on the diameter and design of the inductive sensor
- Detected materials: Aluminium and other non-ferrous metals (steel ignored), material selectivity makes it possible to disregard fine metal residue that should not be treated as the actual workpiece
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for aluminium (full rated sensing range), the full rated range for aluminium makes it easier to design applications without additional assumptions about range reduction
- Housing: Threaded, a standard solution used in industrial automation and control systems
- Housing material: Stainless steel, increased mechanical strength of the housing ensures a long service life
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, high mechanical resistance to impact, abrasion, and damage
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, wider lateral field of action expands application possibilities
- Switching function: NO, standard operating logic for inductive sensors in industrial automation
- Plug type: M12, the plug-in design eases servicing and quick sensor replacement
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, compatible with PLC systems and industrial automation
Applications
- Robotic assembly stations – Use at robotic assembly stations working with aluminium ensures precise detection of the actual workpiece, disregarding individual filings in the surroundings.
- Cutting, milling and turning of aluminium – Use in automating aluminium cutting, milling and turning processes increases production efficiency, even when machining chips are present around the workpiece.
- Robotic cells – The NF series detection device is used in robotic cells handling aluminium parts in continuous-cycle operation.
- Inspection before welding – The inductive sensor for aluminium performs well at welding stations, where it checks the correct position of parts before the process starts.
- Robotization of aluminium processes – The NF inductive sensor supports the robotization of aluminium processes, providing the automation system with information about the presence or position of the part.
Benefits/Features
- Full-metal construction – the monolithic design, machined from a single piece of metal, provides high mechanical resistance and allows the solution to be used in demanding applications involving the detection of aluminium and non-ferrous metals, where the presence of filings and chips should not affect the inspection of the actual workpiece.
- Selective part detection – the solution allows inspection to be focused on the actual aluminium part, reducing the significance of individual filings and chips present around it.
- Distance-to-part inspection – can be used to check the position of an aluminium surface relative to the sensing element.
- For applications with aluminium chips – performs well where fine chips generated during machining should not be treated as the detected part.
- Compact detection setups – the full rated range for aluminium can make it easier to design stations where installation space is limited.
When to choose this model
- For inspecting parts after cutting – the part-presence sensor will work well for automatically confirming that an aluminium workpiece is in the correct position.
- When actual range matters – choose this model if, when designing the application, you want to base the detection distance on the value stated in the documentation.
- When fine aluminium fragments remain after stamping – choose this model if the system is meant to check the presence of the actual part, not react to individual material residue.
- For inspecting non-ferrous metal components – choose this model when the automation system must detect actual aluminium parts or other non-ferrous workpieces.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
