The NMF18113-FE full-metal inductive sensor ensures reliable, repeatable detection of steel while completely ignoring non-ferrous metals within its operating zone.
The M18 sensor is part of a product range for applications in production systems. M18 sensors provide adequate working clearance around the target as well as stable operation in detection systems.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M18, increased resistance to shocks and vibration boosts operational reliability
- Length: 79 mm, better resistance to shocks, vibration, and mechanical stress
- Detection range: 8 mm, stable inductive switching characteristics under industrial conditions
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), material selectivity allows aluminium, brass, copper and other non-ferrous metals present in the detection zone to be completely ignored
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the actual detection range allows a model to be selected based on the specific distance to the steel part, regardless of the presence of aluminium in the surroundings
- Housing: Threaded, cylindrical housing with a mounting thread for standard industrial applications
- Housing material: Stainless steel, suited for operation in moisture, dirt, and harsh industrial conditions
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, dimensional stability under dynamic load conditions
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, requires maintaining adequate clearance from surrounding metal parts
- Switching function: NO, standard operating logic for inductive sensors in industrial automation
- Plug type: M12, the plug-in connection reduces the risk of installation errors
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, stable operation in DC-powered installations
Applications
- Quality control in serial production – The FE proximity sensor supports the selective checking of the presence of ferromagnetic components in mixed technological assemblies.
- CNC machines – The FE inductive sensor is used in CNC machines to check the position of steel components and tools, ignoring aluminium guards and components in the surroundings.
- Robotic cells – The FE series detection device is used in robotic cells handling steel parts in continuous cycle operation.
- Checking before stamping of steel sheets – The FE proximity sensor is used to check the presence of a part before the stamping cycle of steel sheets and components.
- Production of fasteners – The FE inductive sensor is used in the production of bolts, nuts and other steel fasteners, confirming their presence in the process.
Benefits/Features
- Actual detection range – designers can select a model based on the specific distance to the steel part, without having to account for additional correction factors.
- Stable checking of the actual component – detection focused on steel allows the solution's operation to be better matched to applications in a mixed-metal environment containing non-ferrous metals.
- Durable construction – the monolithic construction increases the resistance of the solution used to check steel components.
- For checking components after machining – can be used to detect the actual steel part even in an environment where aluminium residue from machining is present.
- Steel component position sensor – can check the position of a part in a machine, while aluminium components in the surroundings are not the actual detection target.
When to choose this model
- For steel machining – choose this model when you need to check the presence of a part at an automatic machining station.
- When you need a full-metal construction – choose this model for industrial applications requiring high mechanical resistance.
- When you do not want to react to non-ferrous metals – choose this model if the device's task is to detect only the steel component, not aluminium, brass or copper in the surroundings.
- For steel welding stations – contactless position checking allows verification that the component is in the correct place before the operation begins.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
