The NMF18014-FE inductive sensor detects only steel and ferrous metals, effectively ignoring the presence of aluminium in the vicinity of the detection zone.
The M18 model is part of a sensor line designed for automation and process control applications. Thanks to their size, M18 sensors are easy to install, adjust, and service in machines and automation equipment.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M18, suited to applications with higher mechanical loads
- Length: 55 mm, larger threaded mounting surface provides a more stable fit
- Detection range: 8 mm, detection range depending on the diameter and design of the inductive sensor
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), material selectivity allows aluminium, brass, copper and other non-ferrous metals present in the detection zone to be completely ignored
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the full rated range for steel makes it easier to design applications without additional assumptions about range reduction
- Housing: Threaded, resistant to loosening during machine operation and vibration
- Housing material: Stainless steel, resistance to aggressive industrial environments and mechanical damage
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, resistance to corrosion in humid and chemical environments
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, high detection sensitivity for demanding industrial applications
- Switching function: NC, output closed at rest ensures continuous signal monitoring
- Cable length: 2 m, the cable ensures a highly reliable connection in industrial conditions
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, compatible with PLC systems and industrial automation
Applications
- Vehicle production – Applications of the FE inductive sensor include the detection of steel components in automated vehicle production systems.
- Steel structures of heat exchangers – Use in the production of steel components for heat exchangers and radiators increases the reliability of process control.
- Steel frames and structural components – The FE full-metal inductive sensor performs well on production lines for frames and structural components made of steel.
- Checking before resistance welding on the production line – The use of the part-presence sensor before the resistance welding process allows verification that the steel component is in the correct place.
- Applications with aluminium filings in the surroundings – The ferrous metal detector performs well in applications where aluminium filings are present near the steel part and should not affect the detection result.
Benefits/Features
- Monolithic build – manufacture from a single piece of metal increases the durability of the solution designed for industrial detection of steel and other ferrous metals.
- No response to aluminium filings – the solution is designed to detect the actual steel component, so aluminium filings are not treated as the target detection object.
- Durable construction – the monolithic construction increases the resistance of the solution used to check steel components.
- Checking the actual part – the solution is designed to detect steel components, not aluminium fragments or dust present in the surroundings.
- Steel + ferrous metals + K=1 – the combination of material specialisation and full, natural range is an important advantage when designing applications.
When to choose this model
- For steel machining – choose this model when you need to check the presence of a part at an automatic machining station.
- For positioning steel components – choose the part-position sensor when the correct placement of the steel component is a precondition for the next operation.
- When aluminium chips are generated during machining – the solution will perform well in applications where the aim is to detect only the steel part, with aluminium chips completely ignored.
- When you need a specialised solution for steel and ferrous metals – choose a full-metal inductive sensor with a natural K=1 and an actual rated range, designed for the contactless detection of the actual parts in processes such as cutting, stamping, welding, resistance welding and automatic assembly, without being aimed at detecting aluminium and other non-ferrous metals.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
