The NMF18011-NF full-metal inductive sensor ensures stable detection of the actual aluminium workpiece even in environments containing fine machining residue.
The M18 sensor belongs to a series of devices for precise detection in industrial environments. Thanks to their size, M18 sensors are easy to install, adjust, and service in machines and automation equipment.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M18, large diameter providing a longer detection range in demanding industrial applications
- Length: 55 mm, better resistance to shocks, vibration, and mechanical stress
- Detection range: 8 mm, wear resistance thanks to the non-contact metal detection method
- Detected materials: Aluminium and other non-ferrous metals (steel ignored), detection focused on the actual aluminium part, not on individual filings or chips generated during machining
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for aluminium (full rated sensing range), the correction factor K = 1 means that the rated range Sn applies directly to aluminium, without the typical reduction applied to non-ferrous metals
- Housing: Threaded, cylindrical housing with a mounting thread for standard industrial applications
- Housing material: Stainless steel, increased mechanical strength of the housing ensures a long service life
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, high mechanical resistance to impact, abrasion, and damage
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, maximum detection range for metal objects
- Switching function: NO, standard operating logic for inductive sensors in industrial automation
- Cable length: 2 m, cable sensors have a fixed, factory-made electrical connection to the installation
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, standard supply voltage range for industrial sensors
Applications
- Automotive assembly lines – The NF aluminium detector enables position control of aluminium parts on automotive assembly lines.
- Aluminium wheel rims – The inductive sensor for aluminium is used on aluminium wheel rim production lines to check the presence and position of the part.
- Robotic cells – The NF series detection device is used in robotic cells handling aluminium parts in continuous-cycle operation.
- Packaging and labelling – Applications of the NF non-contact sensor include checking the presence of aluminium parts at packaging and labelling stations.
- Applications with aluminium chips – The NF inductive sensor is used in applications with aluminium chips generated during cutting, without being aimed at detecting this residue.
Benefits/Features
- Full-metal construction – the monolithic design, machined from a single piece of metal, provides high mechanical resistance and allows the solution to be used in demanding applications involving the detection of aluminium and non-ferrous metals, where the presence of filings and chips should not affect the inspection of the actual workpiece.
- Material detection instead of contaminant detection – the solution is used to check the presence of the actual aluminium or non-ferrous material, not to detect metallic contaminants.
- Proximity sensor for non-ferrous metals – performs well for non-contact inspection of aluminium parts and other non-ferrous metals.
- Inspection of the actual workpiece – the solution is designed to detect aluminium and non-ferrous parts, not individual fragments generated during machining.
- Aluminium + non-ferrous metals + K = 1 – the combination of material specialization and full rated range is an important advantage when designing applications.
When to choose this model
- For machining aluminium – choose this model when you need to check part presence at an automatic machining station.
- For aluminium positioning – choose the part-position sensor when correct alignment of the aluminium part is a precondition for performing the next operation.
- When machining filings are present at the station – the aluminium detection sensor can be used to inspect the actual workpiece without being intended to detect individual filings.
- For inspecting non-ferrous metal components – choose this model when the automation system must detect actual aluminium parts or other non-ferrous workpieces.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
