The NMF18011-FE full-metal inductive sensor stands out for its high mechanical resistance and its ability to ignore aluminium chips and dust.
The M18 model represents a sensor line for demanding production applications. M18 sensors provide adequate working clearance around the target as well as stable operation in detection systems.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M18, suited to applications with higher mechanical loads
- Length: 55 mm, larger threaded mounting surface provides a more stable fit
- Detection range: 8 mm, detection range depending on the diameter and design of the inductive sensor
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), material selectivity allows aluminium, brass, copper and other non-ferrous metals present in the detection zone to be completely ignored
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the full rated range for steel makes it easier to design applications without additional assumptions about range reduction
- Housing: Threaded, allows precise positioning of the sensor during installation
- Housing material: Stainless steel, resistance to aggressive industrial environments and mechanical damage
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, resistance to corrosion in humid and chemical environments
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, requires maintaining adequate clearance from surrounding metal parts
- Switching function: NO, normally open resting state, consistent with standard operating logic
- Cable length: 2 m, cable sensors have a fixed, factory-made electrical connection to the installation
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, stable operation in DC-powered installations
Applications
- Positioning of steel profiles and structures – The use of the part-position sensor in steel profile positioning systems increases the reliability of industrial automation processes.
- Robots welding steel structures – Applications of the FE proximity sensor include checking the presence of components in robots welding steel structures.
- Galvanising and surface treatment of steel – Use in checking the position of steel components on galvanising and surface treatment lines.
- Machining stations with aluminium dust and chips – The metal presence detector supports automatic checking of steel parts at machining stations, where individual aluminium filings and dust do not affect the detection result.
- Applications with aluminium chips in the surroundings – The FE inductive sensor is used in applications where aluminium chips are generated during machining, without being aimed at detecting them.
Benefits/Features
- Inductive proximity sensor for steel – enables contactless detection of a steel component, while aluminium components in the surroundings are not the actual detection target.
- No response to aluminium filings – the solution is designed to detect the actual steel component, so aluminium filings are not treated as the target detection object.
- Distance checking to the part – can be used to check the position of a steel surface relative to the sensing element.
- Checking the actual part – the solution is designed to detect steel components, not aluminium fragments or dust present in the surroundings.
- A comprehensive solution for steel detection – the full-metal monolithic construction, metal sensing face, K=1, actual range and focus on the actual part together form a solution for demanding industrial applications.
When to choose this model
- For checking components before resistance welding – the contactless sensor enables checking the presence of a part without mechanical contact with its surface.
- When steel detection should take place with a full, natural range – K=1 makes it easier to select the right variant for the required distance to the part.
- When you do not want to react to non-ferrous metals – choose this model if the device's task is to detect only the steel component, not aluminium, brass or copper in the surroundings.
- For robotising steel processes – the part-detection sensor can provide the automation system with information about the presence or position of the steel part.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
