The NMF18001-NF inductive sensor supports the control of aluminium production processes, ensuring stable and repeatable detection of the actual workpiece.
The M18 product has been designed for automation systems with high operational requirements. The standard M18 diameter ensures convenient mounting in most industrial applications along with stable, reliable sensor operation.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M18, suited to applications with higher mechanical loads
- Length: 55 mm, elongated housing with increased mechanical rigidity and high durability
- Detection range: 5 mm, detection range depending on the diameter and design of the inductive sensor
- Detected materials: Aluminium and other non-ferrous metals (steel ignored), detection focused on the actual aluminium part, not on individual filings or chips generated during machining
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for aluminium (full rated sensing range), the correction factor K = 1 means that the rated range Sn applies directly to aluminium, without the typical reduction applied to non-ferrous metals
- Housing: Threaded, a standard solution used in industrial automation and control systems
- Housing material: Stainless steel, suited for operation in moisture, dirt, and harsh industrial conditions
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, high mechanical resistance to impact, abrasion, and damage
- Mounting: Flush mounting, the sensing face is flush with the mounting surface for a safe installation
- Switching function: NO, standard operating logic for inductive sensors in industrial automation
- Cable length: 2 m, cable sensors are used where a durable, sealed, non-detachable connection is required
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, stable operation in DC-powered installations
Applications
- Automotive and assembly of aluminium parts – The non-ferrous metal proximity sensor is used in assembly processes and to verify correct seating of aluminium parts in the automotive industry.
- Cutting, milling and turning of aluminium – Use in automating aluminium cutting, milling and turning processes increases production efficiency, even when machining chips are present around the workpiece.
- Automatic parts feeding – Use in automatic feeding of aluminium parts on production lines increases process flow.
- Automatic assembly stations – The NF inductive sensor performs well at automatic assembly stations, checking the presence of aluminium components before assembly.
- Automatic metal presence inspection – The metal presence detector is used at production stages where what matters is detecting the entire aluminium workpiece, not individual metallic contaminants.
Benefits/Features
- K = 1 for aluminium – the K = 1 correction factor allows the rated range to be used for detecting aluminium, without having to account for the typical range reduction applied to this material.
- Part position sensor – enables position checking of an aluminium part within a machine, focusing detection on the actual workpiece.
- Durable construction – the monolithic construction increases the resistance of the solution used to inspect aluminium parts and other non-ferrous metals.
- For applications with aluminium filings – can be a beneficial solution where individual filings occur near the actual workpiece and should not be the subject of inspection.
- Detection excluding filings and chips as the actual target – the solution was designed to inspect a solid aluminium part, not to detect fine machining residue.
When to choose this model
- For aluminium cutting – the sensor for detecting aluminium will work well for checking the presence and position of parts before a cutting operation.
- When you need a full-metal construction – choose this model for industrial applications where high mechanical resistance is required.
- When the sensor operates close to machinery – the metal sensing face and monolithic construction perform well in locations exposed to contact with the working environment.
- When you need a specialized solution for aluminium and non-ferrous metals – choose a full-metal inductive sensor with K = 1 and a genuine rated range, designed for non-contact detection of actual workpieces in processes such as cutting, stamping, welding, resistance welding and automatic assembly, without being aimed at detecting individual filings and chips.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
