The NMF18123-FE full-metal inductive sensor is designed for selective detection of steel and ferromagnetic materials, while completely ignoring aluminium components and other non-ferrous metals.
This M18 variant is a solution for industry where durability and reliability are essential. M18 sensors allow comfortable installation in typical working conditions as well as more demanding industrial environments.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M18, used in heavier industrial automation requiring high durability
- Length: 48 mm, versatile dimensions for most industrial automation applications
- Detection range: 5 mm, repeatable signal activation distance ensures precise detection
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), material selectivity allows aluminium, brass, copper and other non-ferrous metals present in the detection zone to be completely ignored
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the actual detection range allows a model to be selected based on the specific distance to the steel part, regardless of the presence of aluminium in the surroundings
- Housing: Threaded, allows precise positioning of the sensor during installation
- Housing material: Stainless steel, suited for operation in moisture, dirt, and harsh industrial conditions
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, high mechanical resistance to impact, abrasion, and damage
- Mounting: Flush mounting, the sensing face is flush with the mounting surface for a safe installation
- Switching function: NO, standard operating logic for inductive sensors in industrial automation
- Plug type: M12, the plug-in design eases servicing and quick sensor replacement
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, protection against typical supply voltage fluctuations
Applications
- Robotic assembly stations – Use in robotic assembly stations working with steel ensures precise detection of structural steel parts, while ignoring chips and dust from aluminium machining.
- Steel packaging and containers – The FE part-presence sensor performs well on packaging lines for steel packaging and containers, such as drums or metal crates.
- Assembly of steel building structures – The FE inductive sensor supports the automation of steel structure assembly processes in the construction industry.
- Checking after steel cutting – The FE sensor is used to check parts after cutting, confirming their correct position on the production line.
- Multiple processes in a single solution – The FE inductive sensor is used wherever a single solution must handle multiple steel-related processes: cutting, stamping, welding, resistance welding, assembly and transport of components.
Benefits/Features
- Metal sensing face – the resistant metal sensing face performs well in the immediate vicinity of machines where steel components are detected, and individual aluminium contaminants do not constitute the actual detection target.
- Material detection, not contaminant detection – the solution is used to check the presence of the actual steel material, not to detect aluminium metallic contaminants.
- Selectivity of operation – the ability to ignore aluminium, brass and copper allows operation to be focused on the actual steel part.
- Fewer accidental signals – the lack of response to non-ferrous metals can be beneficial in applications where only the presence of the steel component matters.
- Contactless material checking – the solution enables automatic detection of steel components without physical contact with the part and without being aimed at aluminium contaminants.
When to choose this model
- For checking components before resistance welding – the contactless sensor enables checking the presence of a part without mechanical contact with its surface.
- For positioning steel components – choose the part-position sensor when the correct placement of the steel component is a precondition for the next operation.
- For applications with steel after machining – the model can be used to check the presence of the actual component even in an environment where aluminium residue from machining is present.
- When steel is to be detected and aluminium completely ignored – choose this model for applications where the actual detection target is exclusively a steel part, regardless of the presence of non-ferrous metals in the surroundings.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
