The NMF12111-FE full-metal inductive sensor provides stable detection of the actual steel component, disregarding interference from surrounding non-ferrous metals.
The M12 model belongs to the group of inductive sensors used in automation, process monitoring and metal object presence control. Ø12 x 68 mm is a size that enables quick installation and reliable operation in both standard and demanding industrial applications.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M12, standard size for most machine applications and industrial automation systems
- Length: 68 mm, suited for operation in demanding industrial conditions
- Detection range: 4 mm, wear resistance thanks to the non-contact metal detection method
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), aluminium and its alloys are not the detection target, which eliminates unwanted signals in mixed-metal processes involving non-ferrous components
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the K = 1 correction factor applies to steel and other ferrous metals as the reference material, meaning the rated operating distance Sn is the full, natural detection range
- Housing: Threaded, allows precise positioning of the sensor during installation
- Housing material: Stainless steel, increased mechanical strength of the housing ensures a long service life
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, resistance to corrosion in humid and chemical environments
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, maximum detection range for metal objects
- Switching function: NO, standard operating logic for inductive sensors in industrial automation
- Plug type: M12, connector sensors provide high vibration resistance and signal stability
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, compatible with PLC systems and industrial automation
Applications
- Automotive assembly lines – The FE steel detector enables position checking of steel parts on automotive assembly lines, ignoring aluminium components in the surroundings.
- Cutting and preparation of steel profiles – The inductive sensor for detecting steel performs well on cutting and preparation lines for steel profiles ahead of further processing.
- Steel enclosures and cabinets – Use in the production of steel enclosures and control cabinets supports automatic assembly checking.
- Automatic assembly stations – The FE inductive sensor performs well at automatic assembly stations, checking the presence of steel components before assembly.
- Applications with aluminium filings in the surroundings – The ferrous metal detector performs well in applications where aluminium filings are present near the steel part and should not affect the detection result.
Benefits/Features
- Specialisation for steel – the solution was developed to detect the actual steel components, without being aimed at detecting aluminium and its alloys.
- No response to aluminium filings – the solution is designed to detect the actual steel component, so aluminium filings are not treated as the target detection object.
- Construction for demanding applications – the full-metal design allows the solution to be used in machines where mechanical resistance and reliable detection of the actual steel component matter.
- For applications with aluminium chips in the surroundings – performs well wherever aluminium chips generated during machining should not be treated as the detected element.
- Compact detection layouts – the natural, full range for steel can make it easier to design stations where installation space is limited.
When to choose this model
- For automating steel production processes – the metal sensor can check the position and presence of steel components at successive production stages.
- When steel detection should take place with a full, natural range – K=1 makes it easier to select the right variant for the required distance to the part.
- When resistance matters during steel machining – the full-metal sensing element can be an appropriate solution for demanding production stations.
- When you need a specialised solution for steel and ferrous metals – choose a full-metal inductive sensor with a natural K=1 and an actual rated range, designed for the contactless detection of the actual parts in processes such as cutting, stamping, welding, resistance welding and automatic assembly, without being aimed at detecting aluminium and other non-ferrous metals.
Connection
The sensor has an NPN output, so connect it with an M12 4-pin connection cable without LEDs. Cables with LEDs (NXOC12281…, NXOC12401…) have a yellow status LED wired for a PNP output and are not suitable for NPN sensors.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
