The NMF12112-FE full-metal inductive sensor combines maximum mechanical resistance with effective, selective detection of steel.
The M12 sensor belongs to solutions designed for modern industry requiring durability, precision and reliability. Thanks to their size, Ø12 x 68 mm sensors are easy to install, adjust, and service in machines and automation equipment.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M12, larger active sensing surface ensures effective detection of metal objects
- Length: 68 mm, used in large industrial installations requiring high reliability
- Detection range: 4 mm, stable inductive switching characteristics under industrial conditions
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), detection focused on the actual steel part, not on individual aluminium filings, chips or dust remaining in the surroundings
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the full rated range for steel makes it easier to design applications without additional assumptions about range reduction
- Housing: Threaded, fastening with lock nuts ensures a stable installation
- Housing material: Stainless steel, high resistance to corrosion and chemical exposure
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, capable of operating in coolants, oils, and industrial emulsions
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, high detection sensitivity for demanding industrial applications
- Switching function: NC, output disconnects upon detecting a metal object
- Plug type: M12, the plug-in design eases servicing and quick sensor replacement
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, stable operation in DC-powered installations
Applications
- Stamping and pressing of steel sheets – The use of the inductive proximity sensor supports automation of steel processing operations while completely disregarding aluminium process waste.
- Steel structures of heat exchangers – Use in the production of steel components for heat exchangers and radiators increases the reliability of process control.
- Production of steel wire and rope – The inductive proximity sensor supports checking the presence of steel wire or rope during production.
- Checking after steel cutting – The FE sensor is used to check parts after cutting, confirming their correct position on the production line.
- Robotisation of steel processes – The FE inductive sensor supports the robotisation of steel processes, providing the automation system with information about the presence or position of the part, regardless of aluminium components in the surroundings.
Benefits/Features
- Full-metal construction – a monolithic design machined from a single piece of metal provides high mechanical resistance and allows the solution to be used in demanding applications involving the detection of steel and ferrous metals, where the presence of aluminium filings or dust should not affect the checking of the actual part.
- Part-presence sensor – can check the presence of a steel component at a specific location without reacting to incidental aluminium parts.
- Part-position checking – enables automatic checking of the position of a part made of steel or another ferrous metal.
- For ferrous metals – the solution can be used to check components made of steel and other ferromagnetic materials, while maintaining characteristics focused on the actual part.
- A comprehensive solution for steel detection – the full-metal monolithic construction, metal sensing face, K=1, actual range and focus on the actual part together form a solution for demanding industrial applications.
When to choose this model
- For automating steel production processes – the metal sensor can check the position and presence of steel components at successive production stages.
- For steel production lines – choose the sensor for steel when you need automatic checking of the presence and position of parts.
- When aluminium dust remains in the surroundings – choose this model if the system is meant to check the presence of a steel component, not react to leftover aluminium material.
- When you need a combination of durability and full range – choose the full-metal proximity sensor if the application requires a resistant construction and a natural, rated range for steel.
Connection
The sensor has an NPN output, so connect it with an M12 4-pin connection cable without LEDs. Cables with LEDs (NXOC12281…, NXOC12401…) have a yellow status LED wired for a PNP output and are not suitable for NPN sensors.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
