The NMF12043-FE inductive sensor is an industrial-grade solution dedicated to checking the presence and position of ferrous components, even in an environment containing aluminium contamination.
The M12 inductive sensor is a universal industrial automation component providing precise detection, high durability and stable operation in many applications. The Ø12 x 50 mm format allows quick adaptation to standard mounting brackets and a wide range of industrial applications.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M12, high mechanical resistance of the cylindrical housing guarantees a long service life
- Length: 50 mm, easy integration with mounting systems and machine structures
- Detection range: 4 mm, wear resistance thanks to the non-contact metal detection method
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), material selectivity allows aluminium, brass, copper and other non-ferrous metals present in the detection zone to be completely ignored
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the K = 1 correction factor applies to steel and other ferrous metals as the reference material, meaning the rated operating distance Sn is the full, natural detection range
- Housing: Threaded, a standard solution used in industrial automation and control systems
- Housing material: Stainless steel, increased mechanical strength of the housing ensures a long service life
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, high mechanical resistance to impact, abrasion, and damage
- Mounting: Flush mounting, limited lateral detection field increases operating stability
- Switching function: NO, output activated upon detecting a metal object
- Cable length: 2 m, the cable ensures a highly reliable connection in industrial conditions
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, compatible with PLC systems and industrial automation
Applications
- Production transport and intralogistics – The FE part-presence sensor monitors the presence of steel pallets, parts or hooks on conveyor lines and belt conveyors.
- Robots welding steel structures – Applications of the FE proximity sensor include checking the presence of components in robots welding steel structures.
- Steel enclosures and cabinets – Use in the production of steel enclosures and control cabinets supports automatic assembly checking.
- Checking before resistance welding on the production line – The use of the part-presence sensor before the resistance welding process allows verification that the steel component is in the correct place.
- Checking after machining – Applications of the FE proximity sensor include checking steel components after machining, even in an environment containing small aluminium fragments.
Benefits/Features
- Specialisation for steel – the solution was developed to detect the actual steel components, without being aimed at detecting aluminium and its alloys.
- Part-presence sensor – can check the presence of a steel component at a specific location without reacting to incidental aluminium parts.
- Construction for demanding applications – the full-metal design allows the solution to be used in machines where mechanical resistance and reliable detection of the actual steel component matter.
- Checking the actual part – the solution is designed to detect steel components, not aluminium fragments or dust present in the surroundings.
- Detection without aluminium as the actual target – the solution is designed to check a single steel component, not to detect aluminium residue from machining.
When to choose this model
- For checking components before resistance welding – the contactless sensor enables checking the presence of a part without mechanical contact with its surface.
- When the actual range matters – choose this model if, when designing an application, you want to base the detection distance on the value given in the documentation.
- When you need to distinguish steel from non-ferrous metals – the part-presence sensor can be a beneficial solution in processes where steel and aluminium occur together.
- For presses and stamping stations – the presence-checking sensor can confirm the presence of a steel part before the working cycle is carried out.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
