The NMF12044-FE inductive sensor detects only steel and ferrous metals, effectively ignoring the presence of aluminium in the vicinity of the detection zone.
This M12 model is designed for applications requiring durability, resistance to interference and high repeatability of operation. The Ø12 x 50 mm format makes it easy to mount in standard enclosures and industrial automation systems that require reliable components.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M12, stable operation in harsh industrial conditions and during intensive use
- Length: 50 mm, standard housing length for industrial sensors covering a wide range of applications
- Detection range: 4 mm, stable inductive switching characteristics under industrial conditions
- Detected materials: Steel and other ferrous metals (aluminium ignored), detection focused on the actual steel part, not on individual aluminium filings, chips or dust remaining in the surroundings
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for steel (full, natural sensing range), the K = 1 correction factor applies to steel and other ferrous metals as the reference material, meaning the rated operating distance Sn is the full, natural detection range
- Housing: Threaded, resistant to loosening during machine operation and vibration
- Housing material: Stainless steel, increased mechanical strength of the housing ensures a long service life
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, increased durability of the sensor's active face under intensive use
- Mounting: Flush mounting, mounting into metal surfaces per the flush standard
- Switching function: NC, output closed at rest ensures continuous signal monitoring
- Cable length: 2 m, cable sensors are used where a durable, sealed, non-detachable connection is required
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, compatible with PLC systems and industrial automation
Applications
- Stamping and pressing of steel sheets – The use of the inductive proximity sensor supports automation of steel processing operations while completely disregarding aluminium process waste.
- Machining fixtures – The ferrous metal detector detects the presence of steel parts in machining fixtures with high repeatability.
- Transport and sorting systems – The inductive sensor for ferrous metals performs well in transport and sorting systems for steel components.
- Checking before stamping of steel sheets – The FE proximity sensor is used to check the presence of a part before the stamping cycle of steel sheets and components.
- Checking after machining – Applications of the FE proximity sensor include checking steel components after machining, even in an environment containing small aluminium fragments.
Benefits/Features
- Full-metal construction – a monolithic design machined from a single piece of metal provides high mechanical resistance and allows the solution to be used in demanding applications involving the detection of steel and ferrous metals, where the presence of aluminium filings or dust should not affect the checking of the actual part.
- Part-presence sensor – can check the presence of a steel component at a specific location without reacting to incidental aluminium parts.
- Construction for demanding applications – the full-metal design allows the solution to be used in machines where mechanical resistance and reliable detection of the actual steel component matter.
- Range without additional correction for steel – the ability to use the rated range makes it easier to select the right solution for a specific application.
- Steel + ferrous metals + K=1 – the combination of material specialisation and full, natural range is an important advantage when designing applications.
When to choose this model
- For automating steel production processes – the metal sensor can check the position and presence of steel components at successive production stages.
- When installation space is limited – the full, natural range for steel can make it easier to design a compact detection layout.
- When aluminium chips are generated during machining – the solution will perform well in applications where the aim is to detect only the steel part, with aluminium chips completely ignored.
- For demanding industrial applications – the full-metal inductive sensor will be an appropriate choice when construction durability matters alongside steel detection.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
