The NMF12042-NF inductive sensor is used in machines and production lines where aluminium is the material to be detected, and steel is not a detection target.
The M12 version has been developed for standard and demanding industrial automation solutions, ensuring long service life and reliability. Thanks to their size, Ø12 x 50 mm sensors are easy to install, adjust, and service in machines and automation equipment.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M12, stable operation in harsh industrial conditions and during intensive use
- Length: 50 mm, versatile dimensions for most industrial automation applications
- Detection range: 4 mm, stable inductive switching characteristics under industrial conditions
- Detected materials: Aluminium and other non-ferrous metals (steel ignored), steel and its derivatives are not a detection target, which reduces the number of unwanted signals in aluminium processes
- Correction factor K: K = 1 for aluminium (full rated sensing range), the actual sensing range allows the model to be selected based on the actual distance to the aluminium workpiece
- Housing: Threaded, fastening with lock nuts ensures a stable installation
- Housing material: Stainless steel, suited for operation in moisture, dirt, and harsh industrial conditions
- Sensor face material: Stainless steel, dimensional stability under dynamic load conditions
- Mounting: Flush mounting, mounting into metal surfaces per the flush standard
- Switching function: NC, used in safety functions and operational monitoring
- Cable length: 2 m, cable sensors have a fixed, factory-made electrical connection to the installation
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, stable operation in DC-powered installations
Applications
- Production transport – The NF part-presence sensor monitors the presence of aluminium components in production transport systems.
- Machining fixtures – The non-ferrous metal detector detects the presence of aluminium workpieces in machining fixtures with high repeatability.
- Aluminium cable production – The inductive proximity sensor supports checking the presence of aluminium conductor or wire during cable production.
- Inspection before pressing – Applications of the NF sensor include confirming the presence of the actual aluminium part before starting the next pressing stage.
- Inspection of non-ferrous metal components – Applications of the NF inductive sensor include checking the position of parts made of aluminium and other non-ferrous metals.
Benefits/Features
- K = 1 for aluminium – the K = 1 correction factor allows the rated range to be used for detecting aluminium, without having to account for the typical range reduction applied to this material.
- Reduction of unwanted signals – disregarding individual filings and chips can reduce unwanted signals in processes where the actual target is a larger, solid aluminium workpiece.
- Operating selectivity – the ability to disregard individual filings and chips allows operation to be focused on the actual aluminium workpiece.
- For inspecting parts after machining – can be used to detect the actual aluminium workpiece even in environments where machining residue is present.
- Detection excluding filings and chips as the actual target – the solution was designed to inspect a solid aluminium part, not to detect fine machining residue.
When to choose this model
- For inspecting parts after cutting – the part-presence sensor will work well for automatically confirming that an aluminium workpiece is in the correct position.
- When installation space is limited – the full rated range for aluminium can make it easier to design a compact detection setup.
- When fine aluminium fragments remain after stamping – choose this model if the system is meant to check the presence of the actual part, not react to individual material residue.
- For inspecting non-ferrous metal components – choose this model when the automation system must detect actual aluminium parts or other non-ferrous workpieces.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
