The NWI12111 inductive sensor for welding automation ensures stable, long-lasting operation in welding robots, production machinery, and automated industrial stations.
The versatile M12 size offers a good compromise between compact construction and detection range in welding applications, Ø12 x 68 mm is a format optimized for mounting in the confined spaces of welding robots.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M12, dimensions that ensure easy integration with typical welding equipment
- Length: 68 mm, a longer sensor body that allows mounting further away from the hottest zone of the weld
- Detection range: 4 mm, repeatable detection of metal parts regardless of the interference generated during welding
- Housing: Threaded, a threaded housing allows precise adjustment of the sensor's position relative to the weld point
- Housing material: Brass with PTFE coating, the PTFE coating increases the housing's resistance to the contamination typical of a welding environment
- Sensor face material: PTFE, the PTFE material keeps detection parameters stable even after repeated contact with spatter
- Mounting: Non-flush mounting, the non-flush version makes use of the full detection range, useful with larger welded parts
- Switching function: normally open (NO), standard normally-open logic, compatible with the typical PLC controllers used on welding lines
- Output type: NPN, an NPN output compatible with the controllers commonly used in welding automation
- Connection: with a M12 plug connector, the plug connector simplifies servicing on the production line, reducing downtime at the resistance-welding station
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, a typical industrial automation supply voltage, with no need for additional converters
- Electromagnetic interference (EMC) resistance: yes, proven resistance to the electromagnetic interference generated by resistance-welding machines and welding robots
- Catalog number: W1CN-M1204N-OEU4
Applications
- It works well as a resistance welding sensor and resistance-welding equipment sensor, mounted directly on the arm or gun holder of the welding machine.
- It is an inductive sensor for resistance welding, used where the process generates a strong electromagnetic field and high temperatures.
- Used in resistance welding machines and resistance-welding equipment, it supports precise positioning of parts before welding.
- It works well as a spot welding sensor and supports resistance welding automation on production lines.
- It is used in resistance-welding robots as an inductive sensor for resistance-welding robots, operating in the immediate vicinity of the weld point.
Benefits/Features
- Being temperature-resistant, it can operate in the immediate vicinity of the heat-affected zone without risk of overheating its electronic components.
- A sensing face that is resistant to contamination and resistant to dust maintains stable detection sensitivity even in heavily dust-laden production halls.
- It performs well in heavy-duty operating conditions, typical of welding and resistance-welding shops, where sensors are exposed to vibration and contamination.
- As an industrial sensor for harsh conditions, it is a popular choice for demanding industrial applications and demanding welding applications.
- A construction resistant to the welding environment and to spatter generated during welding extends the sensor's real service life on the line.
When to choose this model
- When you need an inductive sensor for a welding cell where weld spatter is present.
- When the sensor must monitor the presence and position of a part during resistance welding.
- When the sensor must work together with a welding station's automation system.
- When the process requires the use of an industrial proximity sensor resistant to harsh conditions.
Connection
The sensor has an NPN output, so connect it with an M12 4-pin connection cable without LEDs. Cables with LEDs (NXOC12281…, NXOC12401…) have a yellow status LED wired for a PNP output and are not suitable for NPN sensors.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
