The NWI12003 industrial welding inductive sensor combines a compact design with high mechanical and environmental resistance, ensuring dependable operation in demanding applications.
The M12 format provides solid mechanical mounting while keeping the housing dimensions compact, Ø12 x 50 mm is a format well matched to the typical mounting brackets used at welding stations.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M12, a good compromise between size and detection range in welding applications
- Length: 50 mm, a short length that makes mounting easier in densely packed welding stations
- Detection range: 2 mm, a proven detection range under conditions typical of robotic welding
- Housing: Threaded, the housing thread allows fine adjustment of the detection distance during installation on the line
- Housing material: Brass with PTFE coating, the PTFE coating increases the housing's resistance to the contamination typical of a welding environment
- Sensor face material: PTFE, a PTFE sensing face prevents metal spatter from welding and resistance welding from sticking
- Mounting: Flush mounting, the flush version allows the sensor to be recessed into the metal fixtures of the welding station
- Switching function: normally open (NO), standard normally-open logic, compatible with the typical PLC controllers used on welding lines
- Output type: PNP, a PNP output that is standard for most new welding automation installations
- Connection: with a 2 m cable, a cable resistant to the vibration and frequent movement typical of welding robots
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, a standard voltage range compatible with the power supply of most welding-line control cabinets
- Electromagnetic interference (EMC) resistance: yes, proven resistance to the electromagnetic interference generated by resistance-welding machines and welding robots
- Catalog number: W1CF-M1202P-O3U2
Applications
- Deployed on welding lines, it supports welding automation and the robotization of welding in series production.
- It works well as a resistance welding sensor and resistance-welding equipment sensor, mounted directly on the arm or gun holder of the welding machine.
- It is an inductive sensor for resistance welding, used where the process generates a strong electromagnetic field and high temperatures.
- Used in resistance welding machines and resistance-welding equipment, it supports precise positioning of parts before welding.
- It works well as a spot welding sensor and supports resistance welding automation on production lines.
Benefits/Features
- The sensor is heat-resistant, withstanding the high temperatures generated during welding and resistance welding while maintaining its operating parameters across a -25°C to +70°C range.
- Being temperature-resistant, it can operate in the immediate vicinity of the heat-affected zone without risk of overheating its electronic components.
- A sensing face that is resistant to contamination and resistant to dust maintains stable detection sensitivity even in heavily dust-laden production halls.
- It performs well in heavy-duty operating conditions, typical of welding and resistance-welding shops, where sensors are exposed to vibration and contamination.
- As an industrial sensor for harsh conditions, it is a popular choice for demanding industrial applications and demanding welding applications.
When to choose this model
- When the sensor will be used on an automated welding line and must provide stable detection of metal parts.
- When the model is to be used in a robotic resistance-welding process.
- When component detection is needed on an automated welding or resistance-welding line.
- If the sensor is to be used in a robotic welding cell exposed to spatter.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
