The NWI12023 inductive sensor for welding applications provides resistance to electromagnetic fields, metal spatter, oils, coolants, and other factors present in the production environment.
The M12 sensor works well as a universal solution for most welding and resistance-welding stations, Ø12 x 30 mm are dimensions proven in practice on resistance-welding lines, combining a small footprint with a durable construction.
Technical specification:
- Diameter: M12, a good compromise between size and detection range in welding applications
- Length: 30 mm, a compact housing, convenient where mounting space around the resistance-welding machine is limited
- Detection range: 2 mm, repeatable detection of metal parts regardless of the interference generated during welding
- Housing: Threaded, the housing thread allows fine adjustment of the detection distance during installation on the line
- Housing material: Brass with PTFE coating, the PTFE coating increases the housing's resistance to the contamination typical of a welding environment
- Sensor face material: PTFE, a PTFE sensing face prevents metal spatter from welding and resistance welding from sticking
- Mounting: Flush mounting, the flush version allows the sensor to be recessed into the metal fixtures of the welding station
- Switching function: normally open (NO), standard normally-open logic, compatible with the typical PLC controllers used on welding lines
- Output type: PNP, a PNP output that is standard for most new welding automation installations
- Connection: with a 2 m cable, a cable of suitable length makes it easy to route the wiring away from the hottest zone of the weld
- Supply voltage: DC 10-30V, a typical industrial automation supply voltage, with no need for additional converters
- Electromagnetic interference (EMC) resistance: yes, EMC resistance allows mounting close to a resistance-welding machine's coils and current-carrying cables without signal loss
- Catalog number: W1CF-M1202P-O3S2
Applications

- It performs well in harsh welding conditions, including elevated temperatures and heavy dust in the work zone.
- As an inductive sensor for harsh industrial conditions, it maintains repeatable detection even under intensive use.
- Resistance to harsh operating conditions allows mounting close to the weld point without compromising reliability.
- A construction resistant to harsh industrial conditions ensures stable operation across continuous, multi-shift cycles.
When to choose this model
- When the application involves resistance welding and requires part-presence monitoring.
- When the sensor will operate under the harsh conditions of a welding process.
- When you need a sensor for welding process automation and component-presence monitoring.
- When part-presence monitoring is needed within an automatic welding cycle.
The diameter of an inductive sensor is a dimension that defines the width of the sensor element measured in millimeters. This is an important technical parameter as it affects the mounting method and the space required for installation.
Rated detection range is a key parameter of an inductive sensor.Indicates the distance at which the sensor changes its output state when a metal object approaches its front end axially. This is the sensor's most important functional feature—it determines how close the object being detected must be in order to be registered.
